βAt a young age, I realized that it didn't matter whether I was a drug dealer on the streets or a Harvard graduate - I was equally despised.β
I didn't want to be hated; instead, I wanted to be embraced for the kind individual that I am. As a result, I chose a different life path, relying on my own intelligence and ability to understand and connect with others. Although there were challenges along the way, this alternative route has inspired my artwork.
Being of African descent my art is an expression of my life experiences. Using my experience in medical physics, I show the world from a view not usually observed.
When I create commissioned portraits, I aim to capture the essence of each subject's spirit by incorporating colors and symbols that deeply resonate with them. It feels like tapping into a form of extrasensory perception, crafting pieces that are so personal that they can only be recognized by those who know them intimately. The positive energy that comes with this process fosters the creation of exceptional artwork.
I studied at Educational Alliance under Albert Wasserman. When he passed away, I began taking classes at Chelsea Classic Studios. I consider myself self-taught and guided by my subjects on how to approach the canvas.
